Millets

  • Moisture Content: Similar to other grains, millets for storage typically require a moisture content of 12% or less to prevent spoilage.
  • Foreign Material: The presence of unwanted materials like weed seeds, insects, or other grains is undesirable. Regulations may specify maximum allowed levels.
  • Damaged Kernels: A certain percentage of kernels may be cracked or discolored. Acceptable levels are set based on the intended use (typically higher allowance for animal feed).
  • Purity: The percentage of the desired millet type compared to other grains or materials.
